Quilting in Cape Breton

We’ve managed to drive to Cape Breton – about 5300 km – 6 days!!  We had the time, so, thought we’d give it a try. We drove mostly the interstate – which moves really fast!! Along with that, we didn’t do much exploring!! We did go off the road in New Hampshire and Maine- finally got to see a quilt shop!!

When we got to C.B., we spent some time with family in Pleasant Bay – then, back to PortHawksbury.  I spent a great afternoon with the quilters at their show.  The quilts were beautifully displayed on the pews and walls of the church. They had displays and demos, as well as tea and goodies, of course!  I had a bit of “show and tell” as well! It’s such a small world – I met three different groups of people from Alberta and we were able to find that we had friends/acquaintances in common.

We went to a ‘beans and fish’ supper – followed by the opening show of the Celtic Colours. The show was excellent!! Nice to see a friend from AB at the dinner too!
